3M and Arts Midwest World Fest: Celebrating a decade of partnership

Since 2003, 3M has been a major supporter of Arts Midwest World Fest. During our decade of partnership with the company, we have brought diverse, international musical ensembles to 18 different 3M communities across the Midwest.

During residencies in 3M communities, Arts Midwest World Fest ensembles engage with 3M employees at receptions and workshops at 3M facilities. Some of our favorite memories working with 3M employees are shared below.

On behalf of a lot of folks in Knoxville, I want to thank [Arts Midwest] and 3M for including Knoxville in this program. The group made a big impact on the community and the plant with the performances and visits, and we were thrilled to have them. Folks here understand that we wouldn’t normally get access to a group like this without traveling 4-5 hours to a larger city, so we especially appreciate it.

My wife and I had the opportunity to enjoy a brilliant performance by the Inner Mongolian music group An Da Union at Hutchinson High School… It makes me proud to be a 3M Hutchinson employee when I see 3M associated with bringing this type of event to our community.

I am a 3M retiree, living in Knoxville, IA. My wife and I just got home from the community concert presented by the Israeli Ethnic Ensemble, as part of the Arts Midwest World Fest. WOW! FUN! WOW! The impact of your organization on a small Iowa community such as ours is tremendous. We can’t wait for the next group to arrive. When I was transferred to Knoxville in 1974 to help start up the new 3M manufacturing plant, my wife and I quickly learned that we were becoming part of a community of caring and accepting mid-westerners.
