Le Vent du Nord visits Brookings, SD

Le Vent du Nord visited Brookings, South Dakota and enjoyed a fine week thanks to Heather Kallhoff and the Brookings Arts Council.

As with most residencies, the week starts with a reception and Nancy and Daniel Scholl prepared a lovely welcome. Here they are with several of the guys from Le Vent du Nord.

Le Vent du Nord shared a little music as a way to introduce themselves to reception guests. Olivier had to change into his foot tapping shoes for a proper demonstration!

We’re grateful to 3M for program support and the guys enjoyed stopping by the plant to perform. By the looks of things, 3M was glad to have them.

The band was all over town! Here they are first at the South Dakota Art Museum, and then at the Brookings Activity Center.

Each week includes visits to local schools and the audiences can be pretty large. Here’s Le Vent du Nord first with a large high school audience and then with younger students learning the foot tapping rhythms.

Near the end of the week, Le Vent du Nord played its public concert and earned a standing ovation for its efforts.

Here’s a photo from the public concert. Left to right is Nicolas, Heather Kallhoff of the Brookings Arts Council, Rejean, Olivier, Karen and Keith Kinder also of the Brookings Arts Council, and Simon.

Say Hi to all! My students at Breckenridge MN remember your music and ask to dance and sing the “Marche.”
